Life Will Not Wait!

“He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.” --Benjamin Franklin

Here’s a question I recently asked myself: What’s keeping you from moving forward..., forward with your life goals, business objectives, and personal ambitions?

Here we are in March. The year is moving forward. Why aren’t we further along to our destination? Setting goals is the easy part. Achieving goals is a whole different ball game. Ugh! But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Keep At It – No matter how hard and unsure I feel, I have to keep trying and working towards the things I want. That means that even if I feel like I’m being criticized; even if what I’m trying to achieve seems far reaching; and even if I feel uncomfortable for even trying, I have to keep pushing forward. I can start by doing the smallest, easiest thing that will make me feel better and then keep moving forward one step at a time.

View It as a Journey – I have to accept life as a journey and realize that not everything will go smoothly. There will be uncertainty and the road may get rocky or be unknown. Adventures can be exciting and refreshing, scary and uncomfortable, or all this combined. By accepting this, my expectations will be more realistic. It’s about accepting feeling uncomfortable for things that are worth it, which can be followed by great excitement and joy.

Excuses aren’t really reasons; they’re just how we justify not pursuing what we want in life. We can only succeed when we stop telling ourselves why we can’t and start living a life that shows we can.

Let’s keep working towards our goals and dreams, day by day, one step at a time, and after a while, we’ll see big progress and be in a different place than we were before.

My dream is to have a positive impact on society by celebrating the good things people do. I was so tired of hearing nothing but bad news in the media. Step-by-step I founded ACCOLADE Celebrations, to produce a premier awards and recognition gala, the Acts of Kindness Awards, in celebration of the Excellence in People. To-date, my team and I have produced three annual galas in Maryland, and we’re actively planning our next one in Florida.

Remember, no excuses, and enjoy the journey!
